Counseling Services

At Texas Girls & Boys Ranch, our Counseling Services team is committed to supporting children and families as they work toward healing, stability, and stronger relationships.

In addition to providing counseling services for children and families within the Texas Girls & Boys Ranch system, we also serve members of the foster and adoptive community, as well as individuals and families in the broader West Texas region who have experienced significant trauma and are in need of assistance.

TBRI Counseling Services at Texas Boys and Girls Ranch in Lubbock TX

Our team provides a range of services, including individual, family, and group counseling. Because every child and family has different needs and experiences, our counselors draw from a variety of evidence-based and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, including:

  • TBRI – Trust-Based Relational Intervention: A trauma-informed approach designed to help caregivers build trust, connection, and healthy relationships with children who have experienced adversity.
  • TF-CBT – Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: A specialized form of therapy that helps children and adolescents process traumatic experiences while developing healthy coping skills.
  • CBT – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: An approach that helps individuals recognize and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior.
  • EAP – Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy: A therapeutic approach that incorporates interactions with horses to support emotional growth, relationship-building, self-awareness, and healing.
  • DBT – Dialectical Behavior Therapy: An approach that helps individuals develop skills for managing emotions, coping with stress, improving relationships, and making healthy choices.
  • EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: A therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process traumatic or distressing experiences and reduce their ongoing emotional impact.
  • Theraplay: A relationship-focused approach that uses structured, playful interactions to strengthen attachment, trust, and connection between children and caregivers.
